The Bullet

Brad and Caleb have one goal for the car they design and make for the Pinewood Derby each year: for it to do better than it did the previous year. For the third time, they achieved that goal. This year they achieved their goal and even surpassed expectations--The Bullet even made it to the finals! Our expectations were very low since we had a last-minute glue disaster, but amazingly "The Bullet" won every heat until the finals, when it barely lost to one of the top cars of the night! It was much more exciting than we captured in this one and only picture we took that night:
Caleb was pretty proud of his speedster!

Nine Months Old!

She really is. It's true. Fastest nine months of my life right here...

Tiny little newborn Ella
The most chill baby ever.

One month old.
Sucking her thumb? That trick didn't last long.
Two months old.
The binky is still almost as big as her face. This is what she did during the kids' swimming lessons.

Three months old.
Andrew really liked holding Ella once he realized she wasn't going to break.

Four months old.
Ella loved watching the action around her from her bouncy seat.

5 months old.
Cute little sister.

6 months old.
After getting shots, Ella fell asleep in her bouncer (very unusual). Andrew was so concerned over her that day (he had to watch her get the shots and yelled at the nurse "Why are you doing that to her?!?!). He even gave her his favorite Mickey Mouse toy.

7 months old.
Eating sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner. It wasn't long after that before we had to stop putting her in the Bumbo since she would head-dive right over the side.

8 months old.
Well, almost. This was Christmas Day--the day before she turned 8 months.

Nine months old.
Well, almost. I took this video yesterday. Don't mind us trying to get her to do her tricks.
Just enjoy that cute girl's smile like we do every day.

We love this NINE month old baby girl!!

Daddy-Daughter Date

The Cinderella Ball was held January 21st. Every day for about three weeks, Lauren would announce how many days until the Ball to Brad the minute he walked in the door from work: "11 days left, Dad!" The anticipation was half the fun as they practiced their dancing and planned their night together.
She got a new dress (I found out she had very specific ideas about this--we had to find one that was not too pouffy, but that would spin when she twirled). We also shopped for a sweater (why don't fancy dresses have sleeves?!?) and accessories. We found a pair of "dancing shoes" that had a heel--she was so excited about those! We put little jewels in her hair and Dad bought her flowers.
This girl truly felt like a princess! Everything was in place--the dress, the hair, the lip gloss :) She mentioned as they were leaving, "Wouldn't that be great if you could wear a chauffer had, Dad?" Obviously, her imagination was in high gear.

On one hand, I questioned if we were doing/spending a little much for an event like this, but on the other hand, I couldn't help but be touched by how excited she was to get to go to this big event with her Dad. You can't put a price on the smile on her face that night!

They went to a "fancy" restaurant (Macaroni Grill). Lauren savored every minute of this, according to Brad. She acted like a little lady and wiped her mouth with her napkin. She told me how much she loved the bread and even remembered the server's name.

Brad captured her dancing up a storm with her friends.

Lauren with her sweet friend, Mia.
The Ball was held at the Zoo, which overlooks the city--a beautiful view at night.

What a lucky girl to have a Daddy who loves her so much to realize how important this was to her and to make it a wonderful memory for both of them.
